Tony Duquette, A Favorite Designer

The work of Tony Duquette is still relevant today!

Here a is quick look at one of my favorite designers, Tony Duquette. He was mainly an interior designer, but he also designed costumes, jewelry, gardens, fashion, and sets for Hollywood productions.  He believed MORE is MORE, unlike other designers and architects at the time. He was a favorite socialite who entertained in his home regularly and helped inspire others to design their homes through his own designs.

 

 

Ever see bright red coral décor? A gilded chandelier made to look like roadside weeds? Well guess who fashioned it?

Tony Duquette- that’s who! Hiss house is still standing and preserved in California, but unfortunately, his garden and ranch were destroyed in 1990 California fires. Here is great quick video to see some of Duquette’s fascinating and outlandish designs:
